ARTIST
PROFILE
As a young art student in Chicago, and later as a fine art student at the University of Illinois, Temme was inspired by the works of the Dutch master painters and their experimentation with light, reflection and shadow. After college, Temme pursued her career as a painter and sculpture in Chicago. As with many artists, Temme made the decision to work outside her art and in 1975 began what would become a long and distinguished career in Real Estate.
But the muse called her back, and this time the medium was metals, beads and gems. After studying metal smithing at UCLA and fabrication and stone setting at the Revere Academy in San Francisco, she carried her early fascination with the use of light into the world of glittering gems, metals, glass and beads. Gaining a profound appreciation for the power of color during a foray into tapestry, Temme marries bold coloring with light, literally weaving the two together. Each design explores the mystery and majesty of light dancing on each tiny brilliant bead, creating a wearable work of art that inspires, elevates and enchants! Sometimes elegant and timeless, sometimes whimsical, each piece appeals to a different mood or personality. There is something so feminine and romantic about these delicate sparkling beads of glass woven together.
As an artist in Chicago, Temme taught at the Village Art School in Skokie, and is now teaching advanced beading classes in Thousand Oaks, California. Jewelry has become her passion and she is always striving to create that perfect piece which will embody all the beauty that she feels in her soul. Temme believes that a piece of jewelry is not just that final accessory for a day's outfit, but sees the human body as the ultimate canvas. The jewelry you wear can energize, and uplift you and those around you. Whether you are out in the sunlight, in the glow of a chandelier at the opera, or in the everyday flourescent light of the office, you can wear pieces that capture this light and transorm it and the wearer into a thing of beauty.
